HA NOI — Viet Nam called on Cambodia and Thailand to resolve their dispute relating to the Preah Vihear Temple through peaceful negotiations in the spirit of friendship and solidarity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesman Le Dung made the appeal yesterday while answering a correspondent’s question about Viet Nam’s reaction to recent developments between the two members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
"We want the two sides to restrain themselves to avoid making the situation complicated and to try to resolve remaining issues through peaceful negotiations in the spirit of friendship and solidarity of ASEAN, for the interest of both countries and for stability and development of the group," the spokesman said.
