13 Injured as rival gangs clash
A clash between gangs from Alaeng and Krous villages broke out while they were dancing on Sunday evening in Wat Chas pagoda, Alaeng village, Kampong Chhnang province. Thirteen gangsters from Alaeng village sustained wounds ranging from minor to severe. They were unarmed when they were attacked unexpectedly by a group from Krous village, armed with sticks and knives. Villagers said the clash was due to pre-existing quarrels. No one was arrested.

Addict Arrested for using drugs
A drug addict was arrested while using narcotics on Monday morning on Street 97, Phsar Daem Thkov commune, Chamkarmon district, Phnom Penh, police said. The arrested was known as Ngvean Mintam, 23, who was living with an NGO close to where he was arrested, police said. The suspect told police his job was to collect recycled items, from which he earned enough money to buy illegal drugs.

Bargaining ends in knife attack
A 47-year-old man named Kit Sao was arrested by Choam Chao police after an attack on a pork seller. Police said he attacked Rith Thary, 26, with a knife on Monday in Choam Chao commune, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh during a dispute over the price of pork. The seller was selling the pork at 15,000 riels (US$3.75) per kilogram, but the suspect wanted to buy at 10,000 riels per kilogram, and he became angry when the seller did not agree.

Nigerian Arrested by police after scam
Phnom Penh police arrested a Nigerian man on Monday morning in a raid at My Huor Guest house on Monivong Boulevard in Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh. The man was accused of cheating a Cambodian businessman out of US$100,000. Police said the suspect told the Cambodian man that a Nigerian company would invest US$30 million in Cambodia and persuaded the Cambodian man to share in the investment, but began asking for large sums of money.

Truck driver accused of rape
Meas Sophon, 29, from Pursat province, was arrested on suspicion of raping a 16-year-old girl in Tnaot Treit village, Pteah Prey commune, Pursat town, on the night of June 1. The victim's family sells general goods. The family said the suspect, who was a driver and slept in the truck cabin, asked her to bring him a box of cigarettes. He is suspected of raping her in the cabin after she brought him the cigarettes.
