Nephew takes machete to uncle
Pich Vantha, 55, was hacked 30 times with a machete by his nephew, 35-year-old Kam Sao, and died instantly on the scene in front of his house in Traing district of Takeo province on Friday night. The victim attempted to take refuge inside his house when he saw his deranged nephew coming, but instead, the suspect staged his deadly assault and then escaped safely. According the victim's daughter, the suspect had also attacked the victim during an argument two years ago.

Crash kills two in meanchey district
Two men died instantly at the scene of an accident when they rode a motorbike into a van in Prek Pra commune, in Phnom Penh's Meanchey district, on Friday night. The dead men were identified as Pov Dara, 38, and Phuong Chan, 31, both of Meanchey. The driver of the van fled the scene after the crash.

Faulty Machine generates murder
Dieum Sophan, 31, was stabbed to death by his younger brother in a conflict over a broken generator. The incident occurred while the two were drinking together in Battambang province's Srey Meanchey commune, Sampov Loun district, on Friday night. The suspect, 24-year-old Dieum Phat, was immediately arrested by police.

Creditor to pay debt to society
Yous Sothea, 37, was cut twice with a knife and severely wounded by her drunken creditor on Thursday evening in Banteay Meanchey province's Poipet town. The victim owed suspect Him Sokneng 900 Thai baht (US$26.50), and whenever Him Sokneng got drunk, she insulted Yous Sothea over the debt. Earlier in the day, Yous Sothea had called Him Sokneng to tell her that she planned to repay the debt and did not want to be insulted anymore. Following the incident, the victim was taken to the hospital by her neighbours and the suspect was arrested.

Betrayed Husband Drinks Pesticide
Long Soklim, 23, a resident of Pongro commune in Kampong Thom province's Baray district, died after drinking pesticide on Friday evening. According his parents, the victim had been severely depressed since March, when his wife ran away with another man three days after their marriage.
