Police Threaten to Shoot Anyone Who Attempts to Save Drowning Man

Kandal, Cambodia- In an attempt to escape a police raid on an illegal cockfight, 23-year-old Chan Sophea fell into some near-by water and started drowning.

Police saw Sophea fall in the water and witnesses say the police shot their guns in the air and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to save the drowning man.

Sophea's brother, Chan Si Thea, said, "They beat my stomach with a metal pole and threatened to shoot me if I tried to jump into the water to save my brother. Then immediately after they saw that my brother had drowned, they drove their cars away."
