More military muscle

Cambodia is looking to expand it's existing fleet of tanks and armoured personnel carriers.

THE Cambodian government is expecting nearly 100 tanks and armoured personnel carriers purchased from an unconfirmed eastern European country to arrive in the Kingdom next week.

Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said yesterday that Cambodia bought more vehicles on top of that shipment – which is expected to arrive at the Sihanoukville port some time next week – but that the additional order would arrive later.

“As far as I know, the numbers will be higher than that, and will arrive soon,” he said, without elaborating on the actual size of the shipment.

He also declined to disclose the country Cambodia purchased them from.
