Paedophiles sentenced

PREAH Sihanouk provincial court sentenced two men – Frenchman Michel Roger Blanchard, 44, and American Alan Arthur Perry, 57 – to 17 years and three years respectively in relation to child sex charges. Blanchard was found guilty of unlawful removal with purpose and unlawful recruitment for exploitation against two underage boys in August 2008. Perry was found guilty of soliciting sex from four teenage boys in April.

America’s Most Wanted coming to Cambodia

THE television show America’s Most Wanted is coming to Cambodia next month, an official from the NGO that will be involved in the filming said yesterday. Miriam Rich, senior press officer for the British-based Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, said some staff from the show were already in the country. “The America’s Most Wanted programme is currently visiting Cambodia to meet NGOs involved in child protection, to learn more about the work of the International Child Protection Network and to experience CEOP’s training delivery in the region,” she said via email.

Three women jailed

PHNOM Penh Municipal Court yesterday found three Vietnamese women guilty of selling four underage girls – one Vietnamese girl and three Cambodians – to foreigners for sex in Siem Reap province. One of the guilty women received a 17-year sentence, whereas the other two received 15-year terms.
