It is not yet known whether the Cambodian court will rule on Thais detained on immigration charges this afternoon, Chavanond Indharakomalayasutr, secretary to the Thai FM said Friday.

News have spread today that the Court may deliver the verdict this afternoon after it summoned five of seven Thais to appear in the court at 2pm.

Chavanond said the court may today rule on the Thais or just sets a date for ruling.

"We should wait and see whether the court will rule or not this afternoon," he said.

The Court has set February 1 to rule on the Thais who were arrested and detained in a Phnom Penh jail for allegedly entering Cambodia without permission late last year.

The Thais who are now staying in Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh already signed a petition, asking the court to move up the date of ruling.

Six of the seven Thais, excluding Thai Patriots Network leader Veera Somkwamkit, were released on bail pending trial. They were freed on condition that they stay in Cambodia and be ready to report to authorities when summoned.

Veera and Ratree Pipatanapaiboon were also charged with spying.

Chavanond confirmed that only five of the seven Thais, excluding Veera and Ratree, are summoned to appear before the Court today.
